TEACHINGS

God gives us vision or insight into His plans for our lives. We often watch that vision turn to dust, at which point we intensely engage God. After awhile the vision is fulfilled (often not quite as we saw it). Along the way, God has drawn us into deeper relationship with him.

Drama Ministry

Throughout the bible from Genesis to Revelation, there is a never ending string of dramatic tales.  It contains a huge variety of stories with passion, adventure, heroism, joyous celebration, as well as tremendous battles lost and won.   Who can forget stories such as Adam and Eve, Noah and the Ark, Moses and the Egyptian Pharaoh, Samson and Delilah, David and Goliath?  Even Jesus used parables to teach principles for righteous living by illustrating His point in stories. As often as he spoke he was always trying to push His purpose home by being relative to the listeners.   Recounting bible stories alone has been the subject for countless theatrical dramas, movies, cartoons, books and art.

In Matt. 13.3 (“Then he began to tell them many things in parables. He said, “Listen!  A sower went out to sow.”) In Matt. 13:10 (“That’s why I speak to them in parables, because they look but don’t see, and they listen but don’t hear or understand.).

Stephen L Harris has, on the other hand, surmised that Jesus used parables because they provoked thought and coaxed the listeners into participating more actively as they considered the parables' ambiguous content. (wikipedia.org)

Our Mission:  To glorify God by effectively improving understanding of the word of God and His principles to all who see and hear through the use of Drama and the Fine Arts.  "Creative Dramatics" is structured, goal-oriented playing. Through Creative Dramatics (CD) we help the kids explore their imaginations, learn how to communicate ideas, and learn how to feel comfortable with themselves and their role in society. The emphasis is on creation--not performance. Through CD, we try to keep them in touch with their imagination (or help the older ones remember how to use it again).

About the Director:  Tammera Murray was born in Hon. Hawaii, and is married to Tom Murray and has four children Ryan, Joy, Joshua, and Kayla, all of whom have been active in drama.  She performed in her first play at the age 9 in “Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates” in which she had to kiss a boy. YUCK!  She continued to sing and act in plays, skits, and programs throughout elementary, high school and college.  While in college, she single handedly coordinated a major variety show production fundraiser that raised money to buy Christmas toys for kids at the local Homeless Shelter and Abused Women’s shelter.  Tammera continued her interest in drama and the fine arts in Community theater and by appearing as an extra in some Hollywood movies.  She has stayed active in her church drama and music ministries throughout her entire adult life (a long time) spanning three states and 3 churches.  Since coming to Hope Chapel KB in 2003, she has been active in the Worship minitry and Drama ministry for Adults, Youth and children and hopes to continue that passion.

Vision:  to see the HCKB Fine Arts and Drama in particular fully functioning for all age groups to be involved combining Drama, Dance and Music.
