Everyone needs a friend and a support team.
Remember the famous Cheers theme song, “Wouldn’t you want to go where everybody knows your name?”
We are a very large church—somewhere between 2500 and 3000 members. Yet we can be quite small—a dozen people in your personal support network. We organize that support and call it MiniChurch.
Big churches are fun. They can also be isolating. You can hide in the crowd if you choose. But small groups are more fun. You know you are needed. You find purpose in someone else’s life.
You also know that you’ll be missed if you aren’t there. That these people will be there for you when life deals you dirt.
If you aren’t in a MiniChurch, this would be a great time to get involved. If yours is growing, you may want to begin praying in smaller groups to allow for more active participation. And, yes, the Holy Spirit may be whispering to you to start, or host, a group.
The earliest Christians met in a large room and “from house to house.” God gave us their example as a model for effective living. It is a very rewarding example.
